Minutes of the Sept 21, 1997 meeting of the Little River Airport Ad Hoc Advisory Committee A regularly scheduled meeting of the Committee was held at 4:00 pm at The Woods. Committee members present included: Jack Reichel, Joel Bornstein,, Trey Loy and Fran Tucker. Also in attendance were: Dave Brewer, Grant Wheeler, Don Sheffel, Judith Barry and Cindy Jeffrey. Chairperson Tim Scully was unable to attend the meeting due to illness in his family. Trey agreed to preside over the meeting. Approval was given by all present. Joel distributed a report of the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors meeting which was held on September 16th. The Board approved the creation of The Little River Airport Advisory Committee at that time. The proposal which was agreed to by this committee was adopted by unanimous vote. We spent a short time discussing the effect of this approval. Trey announced that it appeared that we were lacking a quorum. We spoke further of the future of the committee. Joel said he thought the posting for The Little River Airport Advisory Committee members would be made in Ukiah on Monday, the 22nd. We moved on to the questions surrounding the community meeting on the proposed GPS approach. We are waiting for the Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) to review our proposal. Trey suggested that we ask Tim to contact Supervisor Campbell to ask permission to go ahead and schedule the meeting. Fran thinks that if ALUC approval is not required, we should go ahead with the scheduling of the meeting. We agreed to support Trey's suggestion to ask Tim to contact Supv. Campbell. Fran asked for an explanation of the process of acquiring the GPS approach. The purpose of the Community Meeting is to educate the concerned people. We must get the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors to make a declaration of negative impact and to request the approach. We don't need universal support. Fran wondered what criteria might be used by the Planning, Transportation, Health and Welfare Committee in determining if we have enough support. We feel that they will make the decision after our next public meeting, which they are expected to attend. Grant asked about the format of the community meeting. He feels that we should make that format clear in our announcement of the meeting. We agreed that the agenda of the next meeting shall be: 1- GPS meeting schedule and 2- Continue the agenda from this meeting. That meeting will be on Oct. 5, 1997 at 4:00pm at The Woods' Clubhouse. As there was no further business to be transacted, we agreed unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 4:50pm.
