Minutes of the Ad Hoc Airport Advisory Committee (rough draft for approval) 1/18/98 The Little River Airport Ad Hoc Airport Advisory Committee met on Sunday, 18 January, 1998 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm in the Clubhouse at The Woods, 43300 Little River Airport Road, Little River. Four committee members were present: Trey Loy, Fran Tucker, Joel Bornstein and Tim Scully. Dick Ahrens, Grant Wheeler, Richard Gallagher and Dave Brewer also attended. We agreed that the next Ad Hoc meeting will take place Sunday, 15 February from 4-6pm at The Woods. Minutes ------- The minutes of the last meeting were approved. Reports on recent events ------------------------ Tim reported that the Health, Welfare, Planning and Transportation (HWP&T) Committee met last Wednesday. He said that he spoke to Patti Campbell early in the week and was told that it was not necessary for the Ad Hoc Committee to attend the meeting - she intended that HWP&T would refer the GPS approach issue to the Department of Public Works (DPW). Tim reported that he emailed this to everyone on the airport mailing list and heard back from Stan Townsend of DPW, who said it was the first he'd heard about the planned referral. He said that if it were up to him, he recommend referring the issue to the full Board of Supervisors (BOS). At the Wednesday HWP&T meeting, Patti and Michael started to refer the GPS issue to DPW and Stan Townsend recommended that the refer it directly to the full Board. Stan then drafted a letter which combines our proposed letter of concurrence with our proposed environmental letter. He sent a copy by email to Tim for review. Tim read the letter to the committee. He said that he had suggested one amendment to the draft letter - adding a specific recommendation that the GPS approach be labeled "NA when local altimeter setting not available". Trey said that he was in Ukiah on Wednesday, but arrived too late for the HWP&T meeting. He had received a copy of the agenda and had phoned Lee, Willow and Susan to let them know about the meeting. Tim said that he had let all of them know by email too. Trey said that he gives Stan credit for staying to the end of the November Community Meeting regarding GPS. Trey also said that he had written separately to the Supervisors suggesting that they refer the GPS issue to the new AAC. Tim reported that the LRAPA met earlier in the day and further discussed moving and reconstructing the segmented circle. Joel said that a good segment circle would help clear up visiting pilot's confusion about the traffice pattern direction. We agreed to meet next on 2/15/98 at 4PM at the Woods if the new committee hasn't been seated yet. The agenda will be: - approve minutes of previous meeting - reports on recent events - what further action should this committe take regarding the proposed GPS approach for Little River? - agree on agenda for next meeting Ad Hoc Airport Committee voting members: ----------------------------------------- Joel Bornstein pilot, flight instructor lives near airport Trey Loy non-pilot, lives near airport Jack Reichel pilot, businessman Tim Scully pilot, computer programmer, lives near airport commutes by air to Oakland weekly Ray Yates non-pilot, Albion businessman Fran Tucker non-pilot, neighbor of the airport manages the Woods Ad Hoc Committee alternate members: ----------------------------------- Michael Moore pilot, economist Susan Winding airport neighbor, non-pilot, local business owner
