Minutes of the 4/19/2002 Little River Airport Advisory Comittee 1. Open meeting: 9:00am 2. Attendance: A. Present Tim Scully, Trey Loy, Susan Winding, Tom Goncharoff, Willow trent, Steve Schoolman B. Visitors: Stephen Ford of DOT, Elly van den Bosch 3. Minutes of previous meeting - approved 4. Correspondence: A. email thread with Janille Rau (Clerk of the Board) regarding appointments to the AAC B. email from Bob Rodriguez of the dog park committee C. email from Dave Brewer about large and fast aircraft using Little River D. email exchange with Bob Rodriguez of the dog park committee 5. Steve Schoolman offered to help Dick Ahrens with aerial photos if he would like to finish up the photo mosaic 6. Stephen Ford explained that DOT wants the dog park committee to committ to a specific process of disposing of dog poop * He also reported that parcel 10 has been flagged and an appraiser has been selected (Chuck Boddy). It will take 6-7 weeks to get an appraisal. * He also reported that DOT has received an initial response from Shutt Moen, but that negotiations are still in progress and they'd prefer not to publish the correspondence at this stage. He thinks the agreement will probably be ironed out within a month or posssibly two. 7. We discussed the FAA $450,000 funding and the October deadline. There is a possibility of funding cutbacks due to 9/11. 8. Willow trent asked who was circling the airport at 10:30pm last night 9. Tim Scully reported that LRAPA has written to DOT to explore the possibility of an airport permit for a small pilot supply/tourist shop to be operated by unpaid volunteers to raise money for airport improvements. 10. There was a discussion of the pending hangar project. If it takes one to two months to get the consultant agreement signed, and then it takes another 3-4 months for the CalTrans loan application, can we get construction started before the end of the year (and the 2 year deadline on deposits)? DOT hope to at least have a signed contract by then. We agreed that once there is concrete progress, a letter should be sent to the depositers. 11. Someone asked if there would be a problem with appointing a Ft. Bragg resident as a member of the AAC. Dennis Vest, who lives in Ft. Bragg has applied. Tim Scully said he would being the Supervisor's resolution forming the AAC to the next meeting so we can review it. 12. Steve Schoolman suggested that we should simplifiy our request to the FAA for the GPS approach in an effort to expedite it. He suggested dropping the request for an approach to 11 for now. trey Loy suggested that LRAPA poll its members. Ellie von den Bosch suggested doing this by email. 13. next meeting will be Friday May 17 at 9am at the Clubhouse at the Woods 43300 Little River Airport Road 14. The Board has not made that appointment as of this date. There are no other outstanding applications that I am aware of. Thanks for the information! Here is Steve's contact information: Steve Schoolman Mendocino, CA 95460 Do you have any other "pilot" applications pending? I forwarded one from Dennis Vest a while ago, and perhaps some pilots have sent applications directly to you? We had two "pilot" positions and two "nonpilot" positions open. These three appointments fill the two nonpilot positions and one of the pilot positions. Thank you again. As I was checking LRAAC minutes I noted the letter from local resident Scott Shepley. I'm not sure if he is 'upset' about the dog park or if he only wanted information from you. If you feel it would be appropriate, I can discuss the issue with him or you can refer him to the Dog Park Board meetings (second Sunday of the month). If his comments are directed to you, fine. If I can clarify any concerns, feel free to redirect him to me. I am not sure how many times he has written you so this may not be a problem for you. I am hopeful that in the very near future we (dog park) can attend one of your meetings just to provide an update on progress. Thanks Bob ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Tim Scully Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 7:28 AM To: 'Dave Brewer'; Tim Scully Subject: RE: "Heavy" Aircraft Use of O48 I think this is good for now. Hopefully it will suffice for generating a revised request to the FAA. I'm glad Dave is still keeping records. We will probably need to generate a detailed report someday, but there's no point to going through all the pain before we are required to, as long as the raw data are available. Thank you for taking the time to generate this. I realize it took a lot of work to extract these numbers. -----Original Message----- From: Dave Brewer Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 6:18 PM To: Tim Scully Subject: "Heavy" Aircraft Use of O48 Here are some rough numbers from the November 97 through October 98 year. I eliminated all single engine planes except the Beaver. These are numbers of times the aircrsft was MENTIONED, NOT OPERATIONS. Some mentions are for a departure, some for an arrival and some for an arrival/departure. A wag is about 50% A or D and about 50% A/D. Hence multiply by 1.5 to get ops in 97/98. Then multiply that by 1.25? to get current ops. I can refine the numbers if you think it necessary. Lots of hand work, so be kind! It would appear that we would have a hard time getting anything close to 500 ops with the jets and the Kingair. The latest aerial photo I have is one I got from DOT on October 25, 2001. Is that more recent than the last you got from me? We are not currently scheduled for the Public Resources committee.
