Please Email me any changes or corrections ASAP. Joel ---------- Minutes of the Member's Meeting of LITTLE RIVER AIRPORT PILOTS' ASSOCIATION a California nonprofit public benefit corporation *OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD AT COAST FLYERS ON APRIL 12, 1998 AT 2 O'CLOCK P.M.* A regular meeting of the Directors and Members was held on Mar 15, 1997, at two o'clock P.M. at Coast Flyers meeting room, for the purpose of conducting all proper business of the corporation. The meeting was called by those present at the last meeting. Written notice of this meeting was sent to interested parties. Notice was publicly posted. There were present, the following persons: Dick Ahrens Dave Brewer Joel Bornstein Tim Scully Diana Scully Patrick Bulmer Mark Hannon Richard Gallagher Ute Rowland John Merriman The meeting was opened with a presentation by Patrick Bulmer, of the format for a proposed website. It included a form for joining the Little River Airport Pilots Association and space for a regular article that Joel has agreed to write. He asked for suggestions of other items that we might like included. Tim thought that we might like to see the noise abatement procedures, information on current projects and an archive of old minutes. Upon questioning, Patrick said this won't cost us anything as long as we keep it moderate in size. He offered to post our information on the website if we sent it to him by E-mail. Dick Ahrens said he would send Patrick the logo that we've been using, for the site. We could have a "members only" section. We spoke of possibly including a camera image on the site. Patrick has a camera server that he likes. It costs about $800.00 and includes everything short of the phone line. Dave Brewer says he has trouble interpreting the photographs. Joel says the opposite. He feels that the images are very useful. Responding to question of putting the Little River Airport on our site, Joel said that Les Proctor is working on a website for the airport. There could be links to go back and forth between the sites. Dick Ahrens asked about the cost of the website. Patrick replied that there would be no cost unless we want to have our own domain name. That would cost $150 for the first two years and $50 per year after that. Patrick makes his money by selling ad space on the sites that he designs. We would get to see the ads before they were placed on our pages. Dave asked about how that might affect our non-profit status. Dick and Patrick agreed that this would not cause any problems. Besides the above mentioned content, Dave said we should publish future meeting times. Ute Rowland then arrived as scheduled and introduced herself. Ute and her partner Brian have volunteered to remodel the airport office. The work is nearing completion and has made a very positive impression on all who have seen it. She said there were three reasons for their wanting to do the work: 1, Need, 2, airport acceptance and 3, the desire to make a positive move. Ute said there have been several pilots who have returned to the airport to see the progress. There are many local non-pilots who like the airport and they will appreciate the changes. There is much support for the work being done. The theme, according to Ute, is 1, We love to fly, 2, We care about this airport, 3, You're invited to enjoy it. Contributions of a new carpet copper countertops by have been made by Richard McCaffery and Ed Rantala. Dave Brewer made a monetary contribution. Ute then presented the calculation of the material expenses and labor costs of the project. She requested that we consider a donation toward those expenses. We agreed that a donation was in order. Joel suggested that we reimburse Dave brewer the amount that he has given and include it in our payment. Dave declined the offer. Ute stated that Richard McCaffery asks for a complimentary membership in the Little River Airport Pilots Association. She asked that She and Brian Casey be given the same consideration. Joel suggested that Patrick Bulmer be made a member, as well. We agreed that all this was appropriate. We then spoke of the possibility of Ute and Brian being hired to apply coating to the roofs of the hangars, in order to make them waterproof. The hangar owners will look into that proposal. Les Proctor came in at this time and requested immediate assistance in dealing with a crash which had just occurred off the south side of the runway, in the woods. Tim and Diana, Dick Gallagher, Dick Ahrens, Patrick Bulmer, Joel Bornstein and others left the meeting to render whatever help they could. The wreck was reached and after it was determined that there was nothing to be done for the victims and the fire department had arrived on the scene, we returned to Coast Flyers. We agreed that we would donate $750.00 to Ute and Brian towards the work that they have done. There being no further time available for meeting, we adjourned at 3:45 o'clock pm, on motion duly made and carried. Joel Bornstein, Secretary
