Here are the minutes of the last meeting. Please inform me of your suggested corrections, if any. Joel Sorry, my mistake! Now they are below... Minutes of the Member's Meeting of LITTLE RIVER AIRPORT PILOTS' ASSOCIATION a California nonprofit public benefit corporation OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD AT COAST FLYERS ON SAT. Dec 19, 1998 AT 9 O'CLOCK A.M. A regular meeting of the Directors and Members was held on Nov 21, 1998, at eight o'clock A.M. at Coast Flyers meeting room, for the purpose of conducting all proper business of the corporation. The meeting was called by those present at the last meeting. Written notice of this meeting was sent to interested parties. Notice was publicly posted. There were present, the following persons: Dick Ahrens Joel Bornstein Dave Brewer Tim Scully Dave Thorpe The meeting opened with a brief discussion of the previous day's Little River Airport Advisory Committee meeting. Dave Brewer received a compliment for the fine work he is doing on the profit and loss statements for the Little River Airport. We moved on to discussion of hangars at the airport. There are state loans available for the purpose of building hangars. Les Proctor is working on ways to acquire the needed funding. Tim Scully spoke of the annual grant that the state gives the airport. He said that it has a cap on it of $50,000. If it isn't spent by the time that sum is amassed, the payments will stop. Tim said he would like to see the runway repaved, but he'd be willing to accept a slurry seal to temporarily control the degradation of the surface. Joel Bornstein thinks we should encourage the county to build hangars; the paving will take care of itself, when it is needed. He also questioned the plan to bridge the ditch to create a space for additional hangars. Others agreed that it seems unnecessary to do that, considering all the other space that's available. Dave Brewer thinks the building of hangars should be profitable for the county. Tim said the waiting list for hangars is a long one. Building new hangars would eliminate it. The county would see more profit from privately built hangars due to the $60 monthly fee. Joel asked about transient's use of any spare hangars? Dave Thorpe said about one person requests overnight hangar space each week. Perhaps two or three people request information on building hangars, each month. Sub-rentals are not allowed; could that rule be changed? With a permitted sublet, the county could collect its 2% fee. If built, a block building is the best plan, rather than "T" hangars. We spoke of the AWOS-3 which was in service in UKI. It was a maintenance intensive installation there. Can we afford it? The AWOS-A under consideration was installed in Santa Rosa. Joel asked about the proposed private instrument approach? It really is private and it's expensive. The advantage to Reach, is that it will be available sooner, possibly with lower minimum descent altitudes. Someone asked if we could get Reach to pay for the AWOS. Dick Ahrens said it's been more that 2 years since the start of Little River Airport Pilots' Association. A director's election is due according to our by-laws. Dick will get to work on a possible list of nominees. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 am. Joel Bornstein, Secretary
